To the weekend!!
It’s been a short week and while this is a good thing, it actualy means you have to jam pack 5 days into 4! So it’s been busy. We had a pitch today to Youth Sport Trust and Sky today for an account that would be great – 6 national events all over the country. Very exciting! It went really well so fingers crossed.
Meanwhile, the easter Break.. We had a great long weekend. We had a few drinks after work on Thursday night, even Jayno made it out and we had a very yummy dinner at Ping Pong ( yummy dim sum place) and then back to the pub where the last ones standing from work people were Russ and Bree and Russ’s two mates, so we stayed on there til close and needless to say our Friday morning early start didn’t actually happen.
We finally got on the road to Bath at about 1ish so we got there in the late afternoon which was a bit of a shame as Russ had never been there before and not alot was open. However we did managed to squeeze in a cream tea and some sight seeing and then had a really yummy dinner at a very nice place.
On Saturday morning we headed off to Castle Coombe Race Circuit where Russ did his three laps in a Ferrari that I bought him for Christmas ( the laps, not the Ferrari) which was really exciting. We then got back on the road to Brecon National Park in Wales.
Now, for those of you who have never lived over here, let me tell you – every single long weekend we have had has been shitty weather, even in the middle of summer. It could be sunny all week long but then sure enough, rain and cold would normally settle in over the weekend but ALAS! This weekend was different.
The weather was so brilliant – sunny, blue skies but not too hot. We got to the lovely town of Brecon at about 3ish, checked into our B&B and went into town where there was a lot of buzzing going on with a town fete and just general merriment.
We went for a walk for about 2 hours in the evening which was lovely but a hard one to get me started on! But I earned my appetite and was well rewarded with another yummy dinner ( yes, food plays a major role in this holiday).
On Sunday morning we got up early and had breakfast and then decided on the walk we would do for the day. We chose one that had lots and lost of water falls and thankfully the weather was good again. We started off about 11 and it was just great. The waterfalls were amazing, ones we could walk right under and the water was so refreshing. It really reminded me of home actually.
After 3 hours of that walk we stopped and had lunch and then went to do another around a resevoir which was ok. Not as exciting as the waterfalls and my feet had begun to rub but Russ kept me going and it was nice ( especially when we got to the end!)
We went home and crashed out for a bit then went to a pub in a nearby town for dinner. It was amazing! The pub itself was gorgeous, the food spectacular and the wine went down like a dream! No complaints! (Don’t worry Mum, we shared the dessert!)
Monday came around and we did a short walk in another near by town called Abergavenny and then started on our way back to London. We made great time despite a few traffic hold ups and went back to Russ’s parents place for a bbq in the sun!
Tuesday morning it was almost impossible to wake up!!
It was such a great weekend and really keen to do some more walking over the summer! Can’t wait! ( I calculated that we walked over 17k on Sunday and burned more than 2500 calories!! So dinner was allowed)
Jayno is off in Rome meeting up with a friend Fiona for the rest of the weekend and I have taken the liberty of booking our summer holiday to Spain!! We fly into Madrid for a couple of partying days and then around the coast starting at Alicante and around to Seville from which we fly out of. 10 days off and I just can’t wait.
Before that though I am off to Hamburg at the end of next month! Hoorah! Finally get to see the Schlumfina after over a year!!
Hope you are all doing well and still here! I hope this also satisfies the mothers who nag!!
Love to you all
