Hola!

Hola! ¡ Soy detrás de España y teníamos un rato excelente!
And i wish i could speak fluent Spanish or Basque, or French for that matter!! It’s been a weekend of mixed languages, cultures and food but needless to say that those are key to a brilliant weekend.
Kirsty, Zula and myself headed out on yet another adventure into the unknown.. we had friday off and a very leisurly start which was spoiled a teeny bit by the hangover from the night before and the rainyness of London. But before long we were on our way, all checked in to RyanAir and in the air… a quick smooze and we were ready to land in sunny Spain.
Ok well not really sunny and not really Spain. The area we stayed in is known as the Basque country and is very much seperate from Spanish life. There seems to be a very strong independence from Spain itself and manifests itself in the strong catholic “clicks” that have formed all throughout the Basque Region.
They are very loyal and incredibly group orientated. And because we arrived mid Fiesta we really got to see the guts of what their life is really all about.
Friday night we hit the bars in a tiny villiage called Agurain and drank chilled redwine with coca cola ( all the kids were doing it..) They don’t eat until after 10 so the general theme of the night was going to different litte cobble stone streets with different little cobble stone biuldings with dirty bars with sawdust strewn across the ground along with anything else you wanted to put down there.
We drank and partied til 10ish and at one point was given a little tiny chocolate truffle from Zula’s friend Sheila ( ironically, its an EXOTIC name over there…). So the three of us took a nibble and realised that it didnt taste like normal chocolate but rather… well, hemp-ish! Totally forgetting about it we moved on to dinner and order the cuisine of the area – bagueetes with Tortilla which is just pretty much a potato omlete on a baguette… could there be any more carbs????
Suddenly, the three of us went quiet and eyes darted round, a squirming feeling came over us and then, hysteria…
It would seem these choccies had kicked into action and we were three very very laughable young ladies. There was a forty minute stint where we just could not stop giggling and my tummy muscles still ache delightfully!
I, unfortunatly, managed to go a very odd shade of green and had to pack myself off home but it was a fun night nonetheless.
The next day we were off rbight and early to Zula’s other friends place in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. And I mean tiny – 80 people in total!! Unbelieveable. Tulio and his wife Jules and their three kids, and four cats were VERY hospitable and we had such a nice time just being in an environment that was completely different from ours.
We went for a walk in the forrest and then went and saw the teepee that they had lived in over the summer by a beautiful river which we played around in. So peaceful and so amazing.
It was only four days but it was such a nice time and reminded me how nice it is to get out of London!!

Screeching To A Halt

Hello Readers ( if you’re still here after my delay in putting a posting up!!)

Well basically since i have been back i have been ridiculously busy both work and social. I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since i have been back here and it feels like time is going at an astronomical rate so i am trying to slow it down.

Work is good – I’m doing one day a week as Events Assistant but because we have had so many events in the last few weeks its been more than just one day which is excellent but means that when i get back to me “real” job things are a little teeny bit hectic.. but thats ok for the meantime!

Apart from that life is good – i did another soul weekender with Russ and his parents up in Great Yarmouth which wasnt as full on as last time but still pretty exhausting. Fun though, with a very interesting mixture of people!

This weekend I’m off to Spain with Kirsty and Zula for a proper girls weekend away – friday to monday in the blissfull Basque Country! I can’t believe we’re going because we booked it ages ago, but will be nice to get away from London for a bit and maybe even get some sun!

I’ll put some pics up today from the last few things we have been doing – Proms, Luke’s dress up party, Caister… and then i plan on taking LOADS of pics while away this weekend. Can’t wait!

Jayne is away at the moment in Switzerland so the flat is empty and its getting colder so going to have to get a rug or something for the floor… have not yet put the heating on which i think is pretty good, but really rather looking forward to the winter… and Christmas!

It’s also a year ago since i was at home, which means its also a year since Pa passed away… been a bit sad and homesick but i guess thats only normal.

Anyways love to all and hope your all well.
