February Frost

Monday, February 27th, 2006

Well while you are all enjoying your fabulous summer ( yes, i still check the temperature in Sydney everyday) we are enjoying a very VERY frosty feb. There has been snow and sleet and whistling winds that managing to go right through your very core. Not fun when denim skirts and tights are the fashion!!

So last week was relatively quiet – the usual business.Except for The OC on tuesday with Lau and Dana and a wonderful cheeseboard and on Thursday Kat from work had some of the girls over for dinner and a proper girls night in.

There was 7 of us giggling, drinking and eating – and it was just like being around my girls at home. All our voices getting louder and louder speaking over each other trying to get a word in edge ways. Was excellent – I had such a great night and Kat cooked up a pad thai STORM which was also accompanied by a cheeseboard and chocolate fondue for dessert… yes the diet is back with avengence!!

We are now making these girls nights in a monthly occurance, next one being at Kirsty’s. So that should be good!!

Friday was pay day so we popped out for a lunch in Charlotte St and then a few drinks after work. I then went and met Uncle Jim who was in London for the week and was also acting as a gift horse as he brought many pressies from home – Mum managed to deck me out with a whole new wardrobe practically and some CD’s and The Sunday magazine which had a feature article on my favourite comic duo ( no, not Dave and Nick) but Merrick and Rosso!! And meanwhile, when did Rosso GET HOT?????? Jayno and I were flabbergasted at how well groomed they both looked – PHWOOOAR! ( yes, i did just make that sound effect!!)

Anyways, getting back to it – Met with Jim and had a lovely couple of drinks and a good catch up and the goings on of the family. Then off home for a much needed sleepin.

Jayne and I were up and looking for flat’s and we think we have found one which is a bit exciting, but dont want to get our hopes up yet…will keep you posted. Saturday afternoon we came back for a bit of a nap and then to Yum Cha (again) with Jayne’s new squeeze Matt, Lau, Dana and a friend of their’s Fred.

Home again to get ready for a night out at a club in Kings Cross called Canvas. Zula’s flatmates friend organised this night which had three different rooms of music and then the VIP’s got access to a loft like room where there was a mini film festival on. So a rather random combination of events but was really good… got home in the wee hours of the morning and have pretty much been on this couch since i woke up! Thankfully Sunday tellie over here is much better than at home!!

So thats it from this end!

Mate – good luck with making your new place a home! I look forward to pics. x

Em – 2 and 1/2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mum – there is always room for you at chatau de caledonaia!!

MIss you all muchly x

The Persuit of Pleasure

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006

Now before you wonder what the hell it is that i could write about with that subject heading, just bare with me. It’s been a weekend of theorising and exploring and to top it off the Sunday Observer did a special magazine on Pleasure.

The entire magazine was dedicated to asking what we define as pleasure and how much time we spend trying to find it. And basically the whole thing ended by saying that our whole life revolves around the Persuit of Pleasure – so why not name my entry after it?

My weekend was quiet but really lovely. Friday night went out for drinks and a curry with the Geronimo Kids and took myself home after one too many whites and lay on my bed in the dark listening to Nina Simone’s eerie voice reverberate around my head til Jayne told me to turn it off!!

Saturday i took myself off to Selfridges for shopping but couldnt find anything i wanted and wasnt ready to go back home so walked down to New Bond street imaging the day when i will be able to afford all the lovely things you can  buy down there. Walked past Fortnum and Mason and then down to Trafalgar Square where there was an Muslim anti-extremist rally going on – all very exciting. To avoid the crowds however I found myself wandering down to the crypt cafe under  St Martin in the Field Church. Armed with my Independant, a boul of soup and a glass of Pinot Grigio I was all set!!

Strlled on up to Leicester Square for a cheap film at the Prince Charles Cinema – The Family Stone was playing and while i had wanted to see it i thought it was going to be another SJP trying to not be Carrie kinda film.. I was wrong. It was fabulous!!

That night i went to Nicole Metham’s place and had pizza and catch ups with her and her flat mates – A nice night in!

Sunday Jayno and I went to Yum Cha in China Town and then found a fabulous little second hand book store where i found Sophie’s World which has to be one of the best books i have ever read and am glad to have back in my possession!

So all in all, i think a pretty pleasurable weekend! I didn’t even get sick o fmy own company once! heh!

Valentines was spend eating and drinking with Jayne while watching Ryan and Seth get through yet another turbulent episode of The OC. And now we are on Wednesday and its all down hill to the weekend again!

I think a shopping spree at Primark might be on the cards and another cheap film. Gotta save my pennies!!

Hope all is well with you all on and flip side!

xx

Has The Novelty Worn Off?

Thursday, February 9th, 2006

Hello? Is anyone out there?

Has the novelty of this hilariously entertaining website worn off? Lost its shine? It’s attraction?

WHERE IS EVERYONE?

I mean, i know i haven’t been fabulous with the updates, but as I said to Jayno last night – I actually live here now… It’s no longer a little holiday away from home, it’s a full blown  life with all the trimmings. SCARY!!!

So the weekend was rather quiet – well from saturday onwards anyways. Friday night i went out with the Geronimo kids and had a few drinks then off to see the Newsquest bunch at a leaving do. It was really good fun night, lots of catching up with people as more than the usual suspects were out so it was really nice. Ended up drinking in Soho with Jon and going to Ronnie Scotts again which was good – love that place!! But we went just before it shut, so not sure if we got our money worth! But hey it was still good.

Feeling very sorry for myself on saturday, i sat on the couch til midnight watching Bend It Like Beckham and eating the BIGGEST 18″ pizza ever in the world ( ok Adam helped me!!) and then on Sunday i went to the pub with Kirsty to watch the Scots vs the French. Great game, very exciting and loving being back into a sport of some kind.. Not as into it as the Ashes but hey! Still good fun!!

Well the weather is sensational..ok it is if you are in doors in a suntrap. But it’s blue skies, and while its pretty fresh, it’s lovely!!

Ok, well not alot really to report. Just making sure you lot are still alive!!
