Summer Time Fun!!

Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows…
That pretty much sums up our weekend, ok except for the lollipops and rainbows! We substituted them for Wine and Food! As i am sure, dear Readers, that you would expect nothing less!!
So to start our sunny adventure we had an early night on Friday night and decided to wake at the crack of dawn – Dad you would have been SO proud, i was herding the girls out the door by 5am, pulling out the “we’ll i guess i’ll just see you there then”!!!- So slightly bleary eyed, communicated in grunts, we got down to Pimlico where we were picking up the car from my friend Jon’s place. He was going to a town in Dorset also so he decided to come along for the drive. Which, secretly i was pleased about because driving out of London was something i was finding a little daunting!
So out of London we went, with a snack box of pringles, snickers, starbursts and redbull we made it down to our first pit stop with no troubles what so ever. I then i was behind the wheel, and man did it feel good!! I love driving and it had been 8 months but it was excellent to get back into it.
We managed to purchase an “Fresh Hits 98″ whiched turned out to be a little less than fresh hits, however a few classics, C’est La Vie by B*Wicthed ( sherbs i was doing the irish dancing in the front seat! too funny), Robbie Williams and a few random flash backs which was all quite funny.
So we arrived at Lyme Regis at about 9ish and dropped Jon off to with his mates. Me, Merle and Carla head off in search of somewhere to saty….with absolutly NO luck. There was not a bed to be seen from here to timbucktoo! Slightly disheartened, Carla remembered her mate from work, Tom, was going to be down in this area with his flat mates. So we gave him a call and low and behold, we got an invitation for some free accomodation!! Hoorah!!
We went and found Tom, Matt and Jim and head for the beach to catch some late afternoon rays. It was still a little cloudy and coldish but the evening sky inidcated it was going to be a splendid day on Sunday. So we went back to Tom’s, had a bit of a bbq ( if you can call it that), a few drinks and then out in a little town called Bridport. We were all pretty zonked but wanted to make the most of such cheap cocktails!!
Ended up calling it a night and all went to bed in hopes for a lovely day on the beach…which were granted!
We woke to an amazing blue sky, warm sun and a slight breeze. So we hit the beach pronto.
The ladies got there about 12ish and slowly rotisserised themselves in the fabulous vitamin d filled rays…we ever went swimming in the “sea” which was rather refreshing to say the least.
It was just so nice to chill out and relax in the sun, just like old times.

We left the beach about 6ish, all looking rather sun kissed and bronzed. We girls decided to go out for dinner as we were on holidays and we wanted to eat something other than deep fried carbs. So we head back out to Lyme Regis and found a seafood pub. Had fresh mussels in a white wine and cream sauce, a few drinks of vino with a sea side backdrop that just so happened to be hosting a “candles on the cob” event whereby the beach side was lit my hundreds of candles. Gorgeous stuff.
The boys came and met us out and we sat around drinking beers and chatting, Jon and his mates came and met us out also and we all got rather drunk ( but i am blaming the sun) and we called it a night about 2.
Monday morning we woke again to glorious weather and a need to make the most of it.
We said our goodbyes to the boys and went down to the local beach for some food at the greasy spoon and a bit of a lay in the sun. Well rested and a little too full we met up with Jon and headed back to try and beat the London traffic.
it wasn’t too bad and i was well pleased with myself and my driving on the motorways (mum i totally understand now, however, i can still go round a roundabout better than you! heh).
Back into London and we now have a house guest – one of carla’s mates from Uni and an ex-newingtonian.
Am still owkring with instimes and actually am starting to write my first feature story!! very exciting!!

Short week which is nice, and birthday celebrations on friday. should be a good night.

Mate thanks for the New horizons thing!! very cool. ( and no Em, I’M not going to pluto, just my name!!)
Mum – thanks for the parcel, not opening it until friday though, however i have a sneaking suspicion what it might be! heh!

Infinity & Beyond – Brother Posting….

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

Do you know how hard it is to get into space these days? Not to mention how expensive it is!! Our good old uncle Andy Thomas, who has just arrived back from the Discovery shuttle mission, has helped me out with an early birthday present.

Ash, your name is now onboard a CD that will be travelling on the “New Horizons” spacecraft that’s heading to Pluto later this month. Now it takes a little while to get there….ETA at this stage is July 2015 but atleast your name is the first from Earth to arrive on the martian planet.

Lets just hope they have a CD drive….

Bank Holidays!

Saturday, August 27th, 2005

Well its day two here at Insurance Times, and its probably took about 5 minutes before it felt like i had never left. i do like it here…
However, it is only to be short lived, finish up next week, on the 2nd of September…(this date should be ringing some bells). No doubt there will be a few drinks shared!!

So Carla, Merle and myself are off tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn in search of sunshine and the ocean..We are picking up the car as early as possible and heading off. no doubt the traffic will be hideous what with everyone wanting to head out that way, but we will have our snacks and our singing voices ready!

Suited Up

Wednesday, August 24th, 2005

Well the last few days have been full of interviews and job prospects. Have been all suited up, which is very unlike. I caught myself in the mirror and had to do a double take.. i almost looked corporate!!
Speaking of corporate, Darlene from T8 sent me an email to let me know that my mate Frank Braile was after his C5054F800 in a XXXL, ha! Thanks Darls for the email. I had a right chuckle about it!!!

This weekend we have a bank holiday long weekend and we are borrowing a friends car for the weekend so Merle, Carla and myself are going to find a beach. Its been too long since we had a swim in the surf!! It’s killing me!

Mum, hope you are doing well. This really should be your last operation for quite some time ok?? Email and text me when you are feeling up for a call.
Sare – photos aren’t up yet, there are a few on the message board that Carla had put up but you might have to go back a page or two.
Dad – will catch you on friday!
Dane – great having chats to you yesterday!!
Grandma and Pa – hope you are doing well, it’s certainly baked dinner weather at the moment, wish we could pop round for a roast pork with all the trimmings…mmmmmmmmm

Calling all Lilli Putians

Thursday, August 18th, 2005

Hi everyone, this is Carla (secretly very stoked to have been given home page publishing rights).

Just a quick message aimed at everyone who spent a few fun-filled years at Lilli Pilli Primary School…

You may or may not have known that Mr Saundry has spent the majority of this school year quite ill. I’m very sad to tell you that the latest news is not optimistic, and last week he has officially retired from Lilli Pilli. It is undeniable that the school and community will miss him greatly, as he contributed tirelessly for as long as any of us can remember.

My mum and a few of the other teachers are trying to put together a little something to show him how much he was appreciated by everyone and what an impact he had on so many people. So… if you’re interested… please feel free to write him a little message. Nothing morbid and no get well messages, just let him know what you’re up to with your life and any particular memories you have. I’m sure he’d appreciate hearing from you all.

Please pass this message on to anyone you went to school with and are still in contact with. Messages can be emailed to me and I’ll forward them on. As soon as possible please…

Thanks everyone. And thanks for having me on ashthomas.net.
